Cookware E-Commerce Site
This project entailed the creation of a custom full function e-commerce site for
a cookware retailer. Functions included typical merchandise display and purchase,
account login and management, gift registries, and wish lists. Site included advanced
search including the ability to successively narrow search results by various criteria.
System was architected in a strictly layered design utilizing user interface, domain,
and data layers. In the first busy season, the site handled up to 2,600 orders in a day, with
an average of 1,600 orders per day over a month and a half. Technical highlights included:
- Real time integration of the site with CommercialWare through asynchronous message
processing using IBM MQ.
- Advanced search capabilities using iPhrase. iPhrase was deeply integrated into
the site supporting the ability to search for items, refine search results, and
provide appropriate related items.
